2025 November Engineers: An Operational Look at Virtual Design and Construction (VDC)

Description
We will walk through how VDC is used on construction and renovation projects with an operations focus. You will leave with a better understanding of how VDC supports the people working together on a project in an integrated and simultaneous way to better meet its objectives. This understanding could improve future projects and enable them to run more smoothly.
About the instructors:
Mike Mills is currently Senior Director of Construction Management at Ryan Companies. He graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Political Science and the University of MN with a certificate in Construction Management. He is LEED certified. Before becoming the Director, Mike was a Project Manager at Ryan Companies and JJ Sullivan Construction.
Lucas Harris is currently Senior Virtual Construction Manager at Ryan Companies. He specializes in large-scale commercial real estate projects in the industrial, multi-family and senior living sectors. With a degree in architecture and a passion for working with field teams, he supports project teams from early development through project turnover with a focus on promoting collaboration through the lens of client centricity.

The parking ramp is located at 740 S 4th St and has three entrances. Use one of these locations to map out directions: 701 S 3rd St or 345 Park Ave or 334 Chicago Ave. Go to third floor to access the skyway. Walk west in the skyway for 2 blocks to Wells Fargo and take the elevator in the NE corner to the lower level and cross under the Millwright building (not escalators). Enter on lower level and take stairs or elevator to the first floor reception area.
